Grade 3 Computer Lab Rules and Overview Complete a wide variety of Projects using Google Apps for Education. Topics covered use Technology Integration with all academic subject areas. Students will become aware of or use all of the following Google products: Google Search and Google Accessibility; Google Scholar; Google Docs, with its document, spreadsheet, and presentation software; Google Drawing; Google Earth, Google Maps, and Google Sky; Google SketchUp; Google Groups; Google Reader; Google Notebook; Google Video, Google Sites; Google Calculator; Google News; and Google Books. Introduction to the Computer Review the parts of the computer and their functions. Complete typing lessons using a variety of keyboarding programs. Students will learn to use correct finger placements for all keys on the keyboard. Internet Safety and Digital Citizenship Digital Citizenship and Internet Safety Awareness is taught. Projects will vary throughout the school year. The Internet: Students will learn about the parts of the Internet, what is a Web Browser, and how to perform a basic Google Search (searches are based on classroom needs). Word Processing Assignments using: Google Docs Students create a Technology folder in their Google Drive where all of their computer projects are found. We learn how to format fonts, and insert graphics while working on a variety of projects throughout the school year. Digital Presentations: Google Slides Students will create a slide presentation, publish and present to their peers. (Students will be assigned a wide variety of topics). Basics of Code using Scratch Learning how to write code using Scratch Software. Students will complete a teacher-lead tutorial to learn how to use the Scratch Software. Students will then create a project of their choice using Scratch Program.
